Immortals
|
(Lominakh's Personal Militia)
|
The Immortals form the backbone of Lord
Lominakh's power. An eclectic assortment of thieves,
murderers, corsairs, merchants, craftsmen, and politicians,
these fiercely loyal followers of the Corsair Lord rose up
from the streets along with the young Rachotai.
Having known Lominakh from his youth and growing up
with the Lord, theirs is a bond that go deeper than family, of
unfailing devotion unrivaled by any other of Umbar's military
factions.
Along with excelling in their chosen profession,
the Immortals are also highly trained in both armed and
unarmed combat. In fact, it is the Immortals who handle the
daily sparring and training of the Lord himself. Also well
versed in espionage, sabotage, and guerilla warfare, the
Immortals carry out critical and covert missions assigned by
Lominakh, as well as serving as the Lord's personal guard.
Some say the Immortals continue to operate the criminal
empire built by Lominakh before taking over the Tower Lord
position. Although the Immortals do not answer to any of Seaward’s
official military chain of command, it is no small coincidence
that the current Tower Captain is also an Immortal.
IMMORTALS ROSTER:
| Hemadri A young lad whom Kimmerle
favored using when subtlety was not an issue. Silent and brutal he is, who killed
without remorse, and would have had many employers after the breakup of the Black
Scorpions except for his one fatal flaw: He would only kill when ordered by Rachotai.
The lad displays infinite patience, honing his dagger in slow, even strokes,
preferring the short blade to that of the scimitar so he could get closer to his victim and
smell their blood. |
 |
| Mubarak the Mole – An informant with a web of contacts in the streets of Umbar.
He met Rachotai during the years when they both worked under the notorious moneylender, Omar. Mubarek passes himself off as a beggar but rumor has it, he leads a
double life as a man of leisure. |
 |
| Sandor
- Standing well over six feet and rivaled only by Saeed for the title of largest of the
Immortals, is Sandor.
Holding the honor of being Rachotai’s oldest
friend, Sandor grew up on the streets of Umbar alongside
Rachtoai, although it was Rachotai, the future Tower
Lord of Seaward who made sure the orphaned Sandor was fed and clothed.
As Sandor grew in size, he became the muscle behind Rachotai’s rise to power.
Currently the head of security and operations at the Oasis,
Sandor also serves as Lominakh's personal bodyguard from time to time. |
 |
| Susheel
- Another of Rachotai’s boyhood friends,
Susheel was the pretty boy who worked as a servant and scribe for Kimmerle during the days of the Black Scorpions.
Only rivaled by Rachotai himself in swordplay, Susheel serves as the bodyguard to the Lady Pratima and is second in command of the Immortals. |
 |
| Shiv - The youngest of the Immortals,
Shiv is the one trusted with the task of guarding the Lady Mahri. Taken in by Rachotai after an
incident that resulted in the death of the boy's father, Shiv's severe stutter keeps the lad closed lipped at almost all times, and
makes him the perfect companion for the silent Hemadri. Much like his mentor, Shiv has become an effective and
a brutal killer when the need arises. The similarities between Shiv and Hemadri have led many to believe them brothers. |
 |
| Khaleb – Former scribe and bookkeeper of the late Kimmerle.
This brilliant young man regularly leaked information on
her illicit business dealings to Rachotai and also informed Rachotai
about an incident which ultimately led to her demise. With the help from Rachotai,
Khaleb now has a new identity and works quietly as a
faceless scribe in the Umbar Library. |
 |
| Nadeem – A flamboyant member of the Merchant Guild who deals in the fabric trade. Their friendship goes back eight years, when Rachotai saved him from the clutches of the slave trader, Madame Hydra. |
 |
| Saeed – A former bouncer of the Den who
once helped twelve year old Rachotai escape with
Pratima from a fate of slavery. One of the oldest members of Rachotai's men (he is the same age as Salmeen),
he and Salmeen know more about Rachotai's childhood than anyone. Rivaling
Sandor when
it comes to sheer size, Saeed is by far the largest of the Immortals, and many would say the
most intimidating as well. Stories of beatings administered by
this man cause even the most stalwart of the Immortals to shiver. As the head of all of Lominakh's enforcers, Saeed does not carry messages; he leaves them. |
 |
| Girish the Barber - Called the Barber because
of the razor sharp cutlass he keeps tucked in his sash. A corsair who was befriended by Rachotai
after the breakup of the Black Scorpions, Girish serves aboard the Aganallo when she is at sea and
as one of Rachotai's enforcers/collectors when she is docked. |
 |
| Qadir the Tickler - A former priest of the Dark
Citadel who lost his faith, Qadir earned his nickname as an Inquisitor for the Citadel.
Befriended by Rachotai after the breakup of the Black Scorpions, Qadir now serves as the Helmsman aboard
the Aganallo when she’s at sea and as one of Rachotai's
enforcers/collectors when she is docked. Those who take
his nickname at face value will find this menacing
corsair surprisingly humorless . |
 |
| Rhyssius True Eye - If there is a better archer
in Umbar they have yet to be seen. On land or on sea, Rhyssius does not miss when he nocks an arrow.
Having started as a cabin boy at the age of 9, Rhyssius has spent as little time upon land as possible.
He currently serves aboard the Aganallo, and as one of Rachotai's enforcers/collectors when the ship
is docked. |
 |
| Idris al'Shadi
- A boyhood friend of Rachotai who took the straight and
narrow path when Rachotai, Susheel, and Sandor joined Kimmerle’s
notorious and violent underground group, The Black Scorpions. Idris
became an apprentice under the smiths of Seaward and it was Idris who helped Rachotai
gain his own apprenticeship in the Seaward smithy years
later. As a master weaponsmith, Idris currently hold a high ranking position within the Craftsmen Guild and is married to Susheel’s sister,
Vanita.
With Idris and Nadeem, Rachotai
potentially has access to inside information to two of the most powerful Guilds in Umbar, the Merchants and Craftsmen. |
 |
| Zubair al’Hassan - A charismatic
charmer, Zubair serves Rachotai as an informant by gathering information through
plying his trade as a bard in the various taverns, inns, and wine sinks in the city.
He is skilled in the use of several instruments and gifted with a voice that makes
women swoon and grown men weep -- yet it is Zubair’s seemingly endless capacity for
alcohol that ultimately lulls his victims into revealing their secrets.
Although
he proclaims himself a lover, not a fighter, his amorous ways have brought him
to the brink of death many times by irate husbands and jealous lovers.
Perhaps that is why he knows how to use his fists better than most, and has made
quick work of many would be assailants with the daggers he keeps hidden about his
person. |
 |
| Avanish & Jasveer al’ Shakur - Owners of a small secondhand shop in Umbar’s
Marketplace, the Shakur Brothers are seemingly the last people one would expect
to be members of the Immortals. |
|
| Kyan al’Seran - A man of mystery even among the Immortals, his whole past is known only
to Rachotai. Only a few years younger than Saeed, Kyan was not a member of the Black
Scorpions, but the founder and leader of the intelligence network for all of Kimmerle’s
operations. A fallout with Kimmerle
before her downfall sent Kyan to seek employment elsewhere. The ‘Guild’ was only too happy
embrace his membership, and Kyan would remain there for the next few years. What led to
Kyan’s departure from the ‘Guild’ is shrouded in mystery. Some say the Guild expelled him
for violating their code but a more popular theory has him refusing to carry out a contract
on Rachotai. What is known, is that when Rachotai ascended to the throne of Seaward, the Lord
of Umbar named Kyan al’Seran the Tower Captain of Seaward. Because of his many underground
connections, not many plots against Rachotai go unheard by the Tower Captain. |
