Layla

Born to a fierce merchant mother, and an unknown father, Layla has lived on a ship since her first breath of life. Unfortunately, her relationship with her mother was not as prolonged as her relationship with the sea, and it was at the tender age of seven that Layla's mother was killed in the midst of a raid on an enemy ship. 

Motherless, but not without family, Layla was raised instead by her mother's business partner, sister, and best friend: the great Sea Bitch, Akilah. Here Layla learned all the necessities of running and managing a ship, and driven by the knowledge of her mother's death, and in knowing that on the sea, the weak do not survive, the girl proved tenacious and apt enough to eventually man it as a first mate. 

As of late Layla's days as a merchant pirate have ended, and instead she accepted the mantle of First Mate on the Seaward Lord's own warship, the Aganallo. She is bawdy, she is loud, and she is quick to humble anyone who steps out of place. However, she is not unkind, and more often than not she can be found in a loud drinking game, or a heated card game with any member of her crew.
